FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Is this for newbie or more experienced virtual assistants?

Virtual Business Maven’s membership is perfect for persons of all experience and skill levels. Each lesson is broken down into manageable steps for easy application. There are also more advanced information that seasoned VAs will find advantageous in putting into practice.

2. Is the information only for Virtual Assistants?

Although the focus is on starting and growing a virtual assistant business, the lessons can be applied to any type of online business.

3. Are there any “hidden costs” in addition to my membership fees?

There will be certain costs involved in starting your business. You are encouraged to obtain a business license and file any necessary paperwork required in your state. The fees will vary by state. You will need to register a domain ($8.99+/year depending on where you purchase), obtain website hosting ($7.95+/month), have access to software or tools to edit webpages (Free+). Additionally, you will need to have any software, hardware and supplies needed to complete the tasks associated with the services you choose to offer.

4. Does my membership include personal coaching?

We are available on our private message boards to answer questions, offer advice and feedback. We also have a support center set up to handle the usually infrequent requests of missing lessons, inability to log into the private boards, etc. However, for one-on-one coaching, we simply don’t have the time to personally coach each member while continuing to run our businesses. We may offer this at a later time if there is sufficient interest.

5. Can I pay in full and receive all the lessons at one time?

Unfortunately, no. Our program is set up so that each lesson is understood and applied over the course of your first year of business. Rushing through and skipping lessons that seem unimportant now will only cause delays in success later.

6. Do I have to commit to the entire 12 months?

No, although it is recommended that you stay with us so you learn every step of the process, you may cancel anytime. However, do note that if you cancel and then decide to return, you must start over with your membership. You would be required to make 12 consecutive payments and your lessons would begin at #1 once again.

7. How quickly can I have my business up and making money?

That will depend entirely upon you. Some may have their business going in a month or two and others may take 6 months or more. Again, it’s entirely up to you and your individual circumstances.

8. If I don’t want to or know how to do a task within a lesson (like building my website), can I get someone else to do it for me?

Sure! You may be able to barter with someone to swap services, so you’d do something for them in exchange for them building your website. You could pay a webmaster to build your site or perhaps find another solution. We have an area on the message board where you can post your needs and barters.

9. When will I receive my next lesson?

There isn’t a set “day” when lessons will arrive to your inbox. The autoresponder is setup to send out your lesson approximately every 30 days. Sometimes there is a 24-48 hour difference in delivery due to the way the autoresponder and email service providers work, but you’ll always receive a lesson each month.

10. How do I request a refund?

Simply submit a ticket asking for a refund. We only refund the last payment you made. This must be requested within 30 days of submitting that payment. Please include your paypal email address as well as your first and last name so we can quickly locate the membership details and issue the refund.

11. I’m having trouble downloading/opening the files.

Each lesson has multiple items and can sometimes be quite large. Therefore, we compress everything into zip files to help the download go faster.

To download:

Right-click the link. A menu will open where you can select “Save Target As…” (for Internet Explorer) or “Save Link As..” (Mozilla Firefox).

Once you select the “save” entry, a download screen will appear asking you where you want to save the file to on your computer. Select where you wish to save the file (typically the desktop or ‘My Documents’) and save to your computer.

Opening Zip Files:

Many computers will have a built-in unzip program. To use this, once your file is downloaded, right-click it, select “Open With” and choose “Compressed (zipped) folders”. A dialog box will open with the folder inside. Simply click the folder ONCE to select it, go to “File” –> “Extract All” and follow the rest of the steps in the dialog box.

If you don’t have a built-in program, you can download a free zip extractor here.

12. Why don’t you offer a higher affiliate commission?

Our membership is and must be affordable for new VAs. It’s because of these very reasonable rates that people are more likely to buy through your well promoted affiliate link.
